ISU FPM Wins the IRPE Gold Achievement
After winning bronze 2004 and four silvers in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008, Iowa State University Facilities Planning and Management has been awarded the Iowa Recognition for Performance Excellence (IRPE) 2009 Gold Level Award achievement. FPM were recognized with three other entities in Iowa who received Silver Level awards at the annual Governor's Performance Excellence celebration on May 6, 2010 in Des Moines, Iowa.
It has been a long 12-year quality journey since 1997 by being persistent and consistent with our vision of becoming a world-class organization. Kudos for ISU's FPM organization. We are only the third recipient in the ten years of existence of IRPE in the State of Iowa to receive this recognition. The first IRPE Gold Level Award was achieved by John Deere Credit Corporation in 2006, second by Eaton Corporation in 2007. No one received any in 2008 and we are the third to receive this prestigious recognition in 2009.
This award recognizes the ongoing efforts of the FPM organization in realizing its purpose of developing, operating, and maintaining facilities to serve the University community. It also serves to endorse the efforts of the organization on its quest to achieve the vision of becoming world-class. All FPM staff can take pride in this achievement for their dedication to Iowa State University.
The Iowa Recognition for Performance Excellence (IRPE) is an assessment process based on the Baldrige National Quality Program requiring a fifty-page application telling the FPM story along with a site visit by a review team to examine the practices utilized by the FPM organization. Over the past years, FPM has been an active participant in not only applying for the review, but also providing a large number of staff as volunteers to be examiners for other IRPE program as participants. FPM received the 2004 and 2006 IRPE Leadership commitment award for providing the maximum number of examiners in that year from any industry in the State of Iowa.
