STARPOINT LEADERS Each team will maintain 4 Starpoint Leaders for team specific duties and responsibilities. The Starpoint Leaders will communicate concerns and issues from their area of responsibility to the Starpoint Council Representative prior to the monthly Team Council meeting. Each Starpoint Leader will have a designated back-up. STARPOINT COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE The Starpoint Council Representative represents the team at the monthly Team Council meeting. The Starpoint Council Representative gathers the team concerns and issues from each of four Starpoint Leaders and takes these concerns to the Team Council meeting to share and discuss. The Starpoint Council Representative will be responsible for bringing accurate and complete information and documentation back to the team. The Starpoint Council Representative may or may not be a current Starpoint Leader. Responsibilities This Starpoint enters employee status on the daily time report and provides this report to the facilitator at the end of the month. This Starpoint receives calls to the team, both in person and on audix, throughout the day. a. Evaluates staffing on the team and advises the team of vacancies for the day to permit the team to make assignment variations. b. Receives e-mail sent to the team and shares information from these e-mails with the team. c. Carries the team pager and receives reports of problems in the buildings and relays this information to the appropriate party. In case of absence, the back-up will carry the team pager. This Starpoint develops recommendations for emergency response and for in-building problems. a. Consults with the team for approval of the plan of action. Distributes team mail as received from facilitators. Brings team issues requiring resolution to the Starpoint Council Representative for action at the Team Council meeting. a. Interacts with manager of custodial services through the Team Council. b. The team works to resolve employee issues related to this starpoint and passes items outside their ability for resolution to management. CUSTOMER SERVICE STARPOINTResponsibilitiesThis Starpoint makes contact with the customer service coordinators based on customer’s request. a. Documents customer service coordinator evaluation of the team services. b. The team makes voluntary adjustments in assignments to reflect the needed service improvements. c. Meets with the facilitator for feedback on the customer services plan if needed. d. Brings any unresolved customer service concerns to the Starpoint Council Representative for action at the Team Council meeting. This Starpoint coordinates team laundry needs such as mop heads. This Starpoint carries one of the team’s pagers or other communication device assigned to the team. Messages sent to this pager are responded to as quickly as possible. This Starpoint maintains a listing of and reviews the cleaning standards and frequencies in place within the department. a. Reviews the adequacies of existing cleaning standards and frequencies and makes recommendations to management for alteration of standards and frequencies to meet our customer needs. b. The team makes alteration to standards and frequencies in conjunction with the Team Council and manager of custodial services. c. Communicates needed changes to the team for inclusion in the work. d. The team makes voluntary changes to team assignments if needed and within design boundaries. This Starpoint receives service concerns from the customers. a. Contacts the customer to discuss the customer’s concern. b. Meets with appropriate team members to develop an action plan to address the customer concerns. c. The plan of action is given to the team for approval. This Starpoint may develop a plan for the measurement of customer satisfaction using the baseline measurement, as well as other measurement items as identified in the design documents. a. Meets with the team for discussion of the measurement plan. b. Conducts all surveys and meets with the support staff for compilation of the survey results. c. Presents the results of all measurements to the team. d. Management will review team surveys before distribution to customers. Responsibilities 1] This Starpoint maintains an inventory list of all equipment in the team. a. Provides an updated copy for review by the team. b. Interacts with the members to receive condition reports on all team equipment. c. Develops repair order sheets for the equipment. Gives the sheets to the facilitator for equipment repair. d. Keep lists updated (in the team room and/or building) showing the proper location of equipment in each room to facilitate emergency and off-hour service requirements. e. Advises the facilitator of the condition of equipment and the need for new or replacement equipment. 2] This Starpoint performs monthly Custodial Space Safety Inspections. 3] This Starpoint meets with the Starpoint Council Representative to receive information from the Team Council regarding new equipment. a. Coordinates use and evaluation of test machinery when available. This Starpoint inspects the equipment used in the team area for proper safety. a. Tags the unsafe equipment to take it out of service. b. Reviews inspection activity with team. c. Receives the reports of unsafe conditions in facilities. d. Reports these items to the small projects center. e. Reviews this safety activity with the team. Responsibilities This Starpoint coordinates the flow of custodial supplies for each facility. a. Fills out supply orders and route them to the facilitator. b. Custodians receiving supplies reviews the received goods and reports discrepancies to the starpoint leader or facilitator. c. Interacts with Central Stores for needed corrections. d. Reviews the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) manual monthly and obtains any needed MSDS’s from the stores. e. Reviews new MSDS’s with the team.
STARPOINT LEADER and COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE ROTATION OR ELECTION PROCESS Teams may choose to rotate starpoint positions or they may choose to hold elections. Rotations or elections are held once every four months and in alignment with semesters. Jan-Feb-Mar-Apr May-Jun-July-Aug Sept-Oct-Nov-Dec The team will rotate or elect 4 Starpoint Leaders and one Starpoint Council Representative. The Starpoint Council Representative may also be a Starpoint Leader. Backups will also be determined for the above positions. Starpoint Leaders and Council Representatives are expected to keep their back-up well informed and to provide training to the back-up where appropriate. In case of vacancies prior to rotation/election, the Team will make a temporary assignment until the next rotation/election. Starpoint Leaders and Council Representatives may remain in their current role for the next rotation/election if the Team decides and the person in the current role agrees, at the four month interval. No team member shall hold the same position for more than one year at a time. New employees will be trained in Starpoint duties while in a backup role and then enter the rotation/elect cycle. All Starpoint Leaders and Team Members should inform the Starpoint Council Representative of issues and concerns to be brought to the Starpoint Council Meeting for discussion and resolution. The Council Representative will communicate these issues and concerns at the next Council Meeting.
