History

Even with the growth of MacKay Hall in 1911 and 1926, by 1945 that facility was not large enough to accommodate all of Family and Consumer Sciences (formerly "Home Economics"). It was ten years, however, before funding for an adequate addition was appropriated.

Construction of the MacKay Hall addition at the west and south of the original building began in 1956, and it opened in 1958. The addition provided office space for faculty and administrators, classrooms, and laboratories.

In 1975 the 1958 addition to MacKay Hall was renamed LeBaron Hall in honor of Helen LeBaron Hilton, former Dean of Family and Consumer Sciences and wife of former university president James Hilton.
