Frequently Requested FP&M Services |
Activity/
event authorization |
|
FP&M must authorize all organized outdoor activities occurring on campus. This
includes entertainment, speakers, or food service. The approval process begins by filling
out an Activity Authorization form with the Office of Student Organizations (210 Memorial
Union, 294-0954). In addition, an intramural is needed when requesting FP&M services.
Some of these services include electric, trash recepticles, portable generators, tent locates
(tent contractor for ISU is EDI out of Des Moines).

| Classroom scheduling |
|
The room scheduling office is responsible for scheduling classes and special events
into general university classrooms and auditoriums. Special events include, but are not
limited to departmental meetings, seminars, oral defenses, course review sessions, and
much more. Student Organizations wanting to reserve a classroom/auditorium for a group
meeting need to submit a room
request form. Call 294-5338 to reserve a classroom, auditorium, or if you have any
questions regarding group meetings. Departments can also schedule events
using the departmental room
request form. When leaving a phone message with room
scheduling, please include the following details:
- Name
- Phone number
- Date and time of event
- Size of group
- Special media technology requests
- Name of event
- Indicate specific rooms requesting, if known
Ethernet data jack connections may be
requested by calling 294-0892. Instructors needing this type of
service in a general university classroom should contact room
scheduling two weeks prior to the class
meeting.

Equipment installation/
repair |
|
Departments may request installation or repair of departmental equipment by submitting
a FP&M Request for Services
form. Please submit
these requests as far in advance as possible to allow for adequate
job planning and scheduling. You may consult with the
Project Coordination Center if you have questions concerning equipment installation or
repair. |
| Furniture repair |
|
Furniture repair is a departmental expense. Departments can request furniture repairs
by submitting a FP&M Request
for Services form. You may
consult with the Project Coordination Center if you have questions concerning furniture repair. |
Heating/
cooling problems (HVAC) |
|
Call the Service Desk at 294-5100 with heating or cooling
problems that affect immediate comfort. Direct requests to modify or add to building
heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems by submitting a FP&M Request for Services form. |

Building
Access |
|
FP&M Building Access Services provides building access by means of issuing keys and building
access cards for university buildings, rooms and roadways. Building Access Services will accept
key orders via the FP&M Key Request form from designated person within each department, who has
been assigned as the Department Key Coordinator. Departments or individuals can pickup keys by
presenting a signed and approved signature sheet.
In addition to building keys, BAS locksmiths make keys for cabinets, desks, and other
miscellaneous keys for a per key fee. The locksmiths install, repair, and replace locks upon
request. (Some lock requests are subject to departmental funding.)
Building Access Cards are issued with the Building Card Coordinator completing a
Card Request form . Building Access Cards will be ready
to be delivered or available to be picked up within the next business day.
The Building Access Services Key and Card Desks are located inside the main door (west side,
center door) of the General Services Building.
Lost key or building access card replacement fee is $20 per key or card.
Please contact Building Access Services at 294-4211 if there are any problems or
questions with the operation of keys, locks or access cards.

| Mail delivery |
|
Postal and Parcel Services provides delivery and pickup
of all international, US, and campus (interdepartmental) mail for major campus buildings.

| Pest control |
|
A certified pest control operator follows an
integrated pest management program. This program includes pest control inside as well
as outside university buildings. If you have any questions regarding pest control, please
call the Service Desk at 294-5100. |
| Recycling |
|
Current campus recycling efforts include white office paper from major
buildings on campus. Those interested in participating voluntarily sort paper at their
work site into 7-gallon blue recycling bins and empty the bin into 50-gallon barrels.
FP&M provides both size containers to university departments. FP&M building
custodians (and Residence staff) coordinate transporting the large barrels to the building
dock on designated collection days. Collection is provided by Campus Services.
Other university recycling efforts include newspaper, cardboard,
confidential paper disposal/recycling service, annual
phone book collection, yard waste composting, scrap metal, auto batteries, tires, motor
oil, pallets, and scrap wood. For questions concerning campus recycling, please call

| Refuse disposal |
|
FP&M handles refuse disposal for academic and administrative
buildings and residence halls including barrels, Dumpsters, and litter. FP&M picks up
the Dumpsters as needed, generally twice a week. FP&M transports campus refuse
to the Ames Resource Recovery Plant where it is burned for fuel supplementing the City
Power Plant. Please call 294-1474 with questions or concerns about campus refuse disposal.
Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S)
handles all chemical or hazardous waste. |
| Signage |
|
FP&M provides signage and directory services within established
guidelines. These are charged to a project or departmental funds as appropriate. For
details call Architectural and Engineering Services at 294-8811. |
| Utility locates |
|
Utilities must locate all underground utilities prior to any digging
including the installation of signs, tent stakes, or posts. Please use the online form or call the Service Desk at
294-5100 to request underground utility locates. |
