FP&M Service Guide

Activity/event authorization

FP&M must authorize all organized outdoor activities occurring on campus. This includes entertainment, speakers, or food service. The approval process begins by filling out an Event Notification and Authorization form with the Student Activities Center. In addition, an intramural is needed when requesting FP&M services. Some of these services include electric, trash recepticles, portable generators, tent locates (tent contractor for ISU is Exhibits and Displays, Inc. (EDI) in Des Moines). If you have any questions regarding FP&M authorization of outdoor activities or services provided, you may call 294-0692.

Building Access

FP&M Building Access Services provides building access by means of issuing keys and building access cards for university buildings, rooms and roadways. Building Access Services will accept key orders via the FP&M Key Request form from the persons in each department who have been designated the Department Key Coordinators. Departments or individuals can pick up keys by presenting a signed and approved signature sheet.

In addition to building keys, BAS locksmiths make keys for cabinets, desks, and other miscellaneous keys for a fee of $5.00 per key. The locksmiths install, repair, and replace locks upon request. (Some lock requests are subject to departmental funding.)

Building Access Cards are issued with the Building Card Coordinator completing a Card Request form. Building Access Cards will be ready to be delivered or available to be picked up within the next business day.

The Building Access Services Key and Card Desks are located inside the main door (west side, center door) of the General Services Building.

Lost key or building access card replacement fee is $25 per key or card.

Please contact Building Access Services at 294-4211 if there are any problems or questions with the operation of keys, locks or access cards.

For more information, visit the Building Access Services web site.

Classroom scheduling

The Room Scheduling office is responsible for scheduling classes and special events into general university classrooms and auditoriums. Special events include, but are not limited to departmental meetings, seminars, oral defenses, course review sessions, and much more. Student Organizations wanting to reserve a classroom/auditorium for a group meeting need to submit a room request form. Call 294-5338 if you have any questions regarding group meetings. Departments can also schedule events using the departmental room request form.

Those interested in participating voluntarily sort paper at their work site into 7-gallon blue recycling bins and empty the bin into 50-gallon barrels. FP&M provides both size containers to university departments. FP&M building custodians (and Residence staff) coordinate transporting the large barrels to the building dock on designated collection days. Collection is provided by Campus Services.

Other university recycling efforts include newspaper, cardboard, confidential paper disposal/recycling service, annual phone book collection, yard waste composting, scrap metal, auto batteries, tires, motor oil, pallets, and scrap wood.
