Current Projects in Food Sciences Building

PRV feeding small section of FoodSc has only one Armstrong valve and is not properly vented. We need an engineer to determine what changes are necessary to correct these deficiencies (Mike and Brian know about this project)

The ISU Brew Lab is ready to get a cost estimate on installing trough floor drains between the existing floor drains in the lab. We currently have temporary sink/wash down stations in the lab and desire to procure and install a permanent sink station on one of the exterior walls. We are upgrading vessels in the brew lab that will require more chilling capacity, and so we will also be sourcing and purchasing a stand-alone chiller system that we would like to install remotely if possible. The desired location will either be in an adjoining utility closet next to the lab or, potentially in the second-floor maintenance utility room next to the lab. This would require utility lines to be run through the wall. Considerations for the chiller would be either liquid cooled or air cooled, depending on the existing chilled water supply and locations. The last portion of our project includes either relocating or installing a new engineered work platform above current vessels as well as installing several of our existing vessels in an elevated configuration to take advantage of vertical work space in the lab. Once the project begins, we can provide the exact dimensions and layout of the work platform being considered. This platform is either already existing and would be relocated from the BCRF or internally designed and sent out for fabrication to be installed. This project request is to get location and design approval from FP&M and not the actual design, purchasing or installation. The sink and trough will need to be purchased and installed/managed by FP&M.

Quote for installing permanent steam, cold water, and drainage connections to autoclave.

Provide a quote for the removal of water, gas, and air faucets from some of the lab benches in rooms 2572 and 2593; replacing the door hinges and latches on the wood cabinets located on the south side of room 2572; and replacing the sink cabinet floor in both rooms 2572 and 2593 of the Food Sciences Building.

As discussed in visit on 6/5, provide estimates to convert FSB#2591, #2568, and #1626A to freezers that would maintain -20F. Ideally, we would use only #2591 & #2568 as creamery ice cream freezers, but we'd like estimates for all 3 please.

Correct leak in Food Science Hallway outside of the restroom on 2nd floor.

Examine windows to Courtyard in corridors C1130 and C1500. There are 16 windows. The exterior sills and the lower jambs are rotting beyond repair. The glazing compound contains asbestos, and the paint will need to be tested for lead. This will need to be turned into a Project.

This project addresses the conservation of the History of Dairying fountainhead. It includes ongoing repair and reinstallation over the next year.
