Current Projects in Science Hall Addition No. 2

We have two new faculty and would like to order replacement blinds for both offices, 0103 Science 2 (Loecke) as well as for 0105 Science 2 (Goheen)

I am looking to refurnish/redesign my office (Sci II Room 105) and lab (Sci II 32). I'm a new faculty in NREM.

NREM is interested in upgrading 0106 Science 2. Carpet, paint, two new, moveable tables (to replace the one large wooden one) plus a side table, new chairs (12 instead of 8), replace the existing sink/counter combo with a more functional one, a larger sink, remove the wall cabinets, and add more AV equipment for virtual meeting capability (similar to room 333 Science 2 setup). This may also require a little electrical work as the wires behind one of the wall cabinets are exposed in the cabinet, and we'd like to replace the light fixtures. The only art that will remain of the existing pieces is the quilt that was made for and donated to NREM by an emeritus professor.

There are 48 chairs in Room 202 Science 2 that need to be replaced, as they are not on wheels and ruining the floor. We'd like to replace them with ones like those in 241 Science 2, which are ALLSTEEL Model INST-NCANO.3.N.PR6.WT (or similar if those are not available). We'd like to increase the number to 50 in 202, plus 12 more for some graduate spaces in the basement for a total of 62 chairs.

Craig Abel and Keith Bidne with the USDA/ARS are looking to replace the cage washer that is currently in 612 Science 2. They have a couple of questions about the existing infrastructure before they actually get the new (custom) one ordered. 1. It looks like the current electrical system is set up for 220v, but the new one requires 480v. Can FP&M install that in Science 2? What would that take? 2. The new washer will need 60# of steam pressure to operate. Science 2 is currently set at 30#. Can we safely boost the current setting to 60#? 3. Is it possible to get the floor cleaned and an epoxy coating put in before the new installation? Is that something FP&M does? 4. Does FP&M check the existing vent, damper, and motor for the exhaust? It has not been operational for quite some time. 5. Is there a schematic of the room somewhere to forward to the company ? (electrical, plumbing, etc.) 6. Can we have the drain pipes and floor drains inspected/repaired? 7. Where would we put the old pieces of the washer after demo while we are waiting on the new one? The old one will be picked up the same day the new one is delivered for installation, and there will likely be some lag time due to repairs/upgrades in the space. They would like an estimate of any costs for changes to the room. For example, if bringing 480V/3 phase to the room is expensive, they may go back to the company building the cage washer to see if 240V is possible, etc. etc. Thanks

Investigate and make necessary repairs to radiant and reheat plumbing throughout building. Multiple Leaks throughout building.

NREM would like to install cork strips for hanging class project posters in the hallways of the first and second floors, and third as well if budgets allow.
