Current Projects in Science Hall

We are looking for estimates to renovate the 486/488 Science Hall suite. This may become a shared lab space between faculty members Tess Neal and Chris Meissner.

The department would like to do some renovations to the teaching lab including new work station desks, instructor station/table with updated wiring to new flat screen display, moving existing projector screen, supplying power to the workstations either via conduit or from drop down outlets, and removing built-in drawers and counter on the west side of the room, leaving the sink in place. We have a rough design of the preferred layout. We need to source and install the desks, flat screen display, and instructor podium/table.

The department would like to convert this space into a multi-purpose conference/meeting/gathering space. The non-functioning hood, half walls, built in cabinetry needs to be removed. We would like help designing this space to optimize the space and be an attractive and functional meeting/conference space.

We have a new faculty member, Maria Schweer-Collins, starting in our department this fall and we would like to discuss renovating her space. She will be moving into Science 085 (lab). She will be visiting Ames and ISU on June 26, so it would be ideal if we could get a time to look at those spaces that afternoon. 2 or 3pm would be preferred.

This project includes the evaluation of existing signage, room numbering, and space allocations, and preparation of design and documentation to install new university standard accessible signage and new wayfinding signage in Science Hall.

We would like to have the Engineering Team review the recently installed PRV for code compliance and safety in the mechanical room and develop a detailed plan for correcting any deficiencies found that could be either shared with a contractor or in-house staff. An engineering probable cost estimate would be appreciated.

I would like to get some estimates and options for student lockers to be put in the hallways outside of the teaching laboratories in Science 1. The students can not bring coats into the lab and the lockers we currently have are very small and do not accommodate backpacks or big coats. I would also like the lockers to possibly have a key code for users to use for locking items. I need to know an estimate of this project and if it is feasible for us to move forward, what the time frame would be, etc..
