| 148784 | Steve Martin | In our glass blowing studio, we found a problem with the usage of one of our glass reheating appliances, called a glory hole. It is placed too close to the west outside wall and glass windows. As a result, we feel that it puts too great a heat load on the glass window. Also, since it is "crammed" into the corner of the studio, it is essentially unusable for glass blowing so.. 1. We want to move the west large glory hole to the east and swap it for the "pipe warmer". 2. This will move the heat load away from the wall and give us sufficient room to use the glory hole effectively. 3. The pipe warmer generates very little heat and won't be a heat load to the glass and wall. Next, we are quite concerned about the overall heat load and temperatures in the glass blowing studio when we are glassblowing. When we use it, even with just two glory holes, the studio gets hot, perhaps as high as 80 to 90 even as high as 100F during active glass blowing. We are quite concerned that when we able to effectively and consistently use the third glory hole in the studio, this heat load and temperature increase will be even greater. So... 4. We need to have a careful study of the temperatures and heat load in the studio conducted to see what can be done to maintain lower temperatures when the third glory hole is moved and is used. I am using my incentive account just to get this request submitted but it will not be used, or at least it won't be used for all of the costs, this is just to get the estimate for the project started. | Open |
