Notes
Danny Whipple was a carpenter at FPM structural shop. Danny loved antique furniture. When he came across a piece of furniture that had been neglected or falling apart, he would take it upon himself to bring it back to its original beauty. He enjoyed building many fine pieces of furniture that still are enjoyed by his family today. To say he was good at his trade is an understatement. He was truly masterful. Danny was born on November 8, 1956 in Ames, Iowa and graduated from Roland-Story High School in 1975. He married Lori Hall on June 25, 1977. They had three children together, Trent, Tanner, and Laurel. He was employed at Iowa State University for 28 years. He was a member of the Lutheran Church in Story City, Roland-Story Norseman, and ISU Cyclone supporter. Most of all, he enjoyed surrounding himself with family and friends. His positive outlook on life, despite having a rare chronic disease, was an inspiration to many through his positive attitude and selflessness. He always had a smile on his face and thoroughly enjoyed company. Even though his disease made it difficult for him to walk, he made sure he did so whenever he could. These qualities and contagious personality brought joy to the lives of everyone around him. To know him was to truly know a kind person. This tree and plaque were donated by Danny's co-workers and friends both within FPM and campus-wide. He is dearly missed by all that were fortunate enough to know him.
