David McComas was born on September 12th, 1957 in Kansas City, Mo. David received a B.S. degree in Horticulture from the University of Missouri in 1998 and a B.S. degree in Feed Science from Kansas State University.
Dave was previously the superintendent at Stagg Hill Golf Club in Manhattan, Kansas. It was there he met and married Marlene. They moved to Iowa and Dave became a groundskeeper for Iowa State University Campus Services.
Dave was known in the shop as the quiet guy, but he could come up with the one liners that took everyone by surprise. We will never forget his one of a kind laugh or his fishing stories. His second love was sitting on the beach in Mexico or Florida fishing for the BIG fish.
An Ohio Buckeye (Aesculus glabra) was planted in his memory, near Parks Library and Durham Center in 2012.
