This commemorative tree is given in honor of Eleanor (Thies) Vandeventer's 95th Birthday Celebration.

Eleanor (Ellie) came to Iowa State from the town of Avoca, Iowa in the fall of 1945. She majored in Textiles and Clothing in the College of Home Economics. Ellie met her future husband, Blaine Vandeventer, at ISU. They married in 1948. They lived in Marshalltown, Iowa for over 18 years but moved back to Ames permanently in 1967. Their three children—David, Alan and Carol—and daughter-in-law Dee Vandeventer all graduated from Iowa State. Ellie is a true Cyclone.

Notes
