Will Prindle, assistant professor of industrial design, passed away unexpected in February 2019. Prindle joined the College of Design in 2011 as one of the first faculty members in the industrial design program. He brought 35 years of professional experience in industry, during which more than 1,000 of his designs were produced for such companies as Anchor Hocking, Crate and Barrel, Gorham Silver, and Starbucks.

At Iowa State, Prindle taught the materials and processes classes in industrial design as well as a number of sponsored studios with companies including Assa Abloy, Boeing, Boyt Harness, and Vermeer Corporation. He was known for his research on ballistic-resistant waste receptacles. In 2013, he worked with seven students to design and build a community bench area outside Troxel Hall, which serves as a tangible legacy of his impact on campus.
