Chester L. "Chet" Britt III, sociology professor and department chair for Iowa State University from 2015 to 2016 died Tuesday August 30th 2016.

Dr. Britt’s tenure at Iowa State was all too short, but over the past year he had a positive impact on the sociology department and quickly forged a path for its continued success. More about Dr. Britt’s 2015 appointment and his career: http://www.soc.iastate.edu/staff/britt.html

All of us were looking forward to working with Chet far into the future as a colleague, so it’s shocking to comprehend that Iowa State has lost such a dedicated leader. He will most certainly be missed, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and peers.
