Rates and Rules

This is a nonperpetual care cemetery.

Lot Rates

Burial lot charges are due at the time of the initial interment.

General maintenance and mowing of the cemetery is provided by the university.

Interment Rates

Space in the cemetery is assigned at the time of need. Space in the cemetery may not be reserved in advance of need.

Exhumation rates will be charged at a minimum of 2.5 times the current conventional or cremation interment rates. In cases with unusual circumstances or difficult conditions, additional labor or materials charges may be assessed.

Marker Requirements

Permanent markers shall be six inches in height or less, except markers located in the Memorial Reservation section of the cemetery reserved for deceased presidents of the university and their families. Markers shall have a concrete foundation extending to a depth of four feet. No temporary markers are allowed.

Cemetery Maintenance

No trees, shrubs, bushes, etc. may be planted in the cemetery unless without special permission from the Cemetery Coordinator. Cut flowers will be removed weekly. Potted plants will be removed as necessary to maintain a sightly appearance in the cemetery. Potted plants shall be in containers suitable for anchoring to the ground without digging. Permanent, round plant holders set flush with the ground are permitted.

The university and its employees will not be responsible for maintenance, upkeep, or repair of any grave marker, monument, or ornaments and assumes no liability for damages, actual or mental anguish, in the performance of its normal operations, or loss by vandalism or other acts beyond its reasonable control, unless the damage is a direct result of the actions of the university's employees or contractors.
