Subject: Temporary Parking Space Closure Beginning August 17
To All Metals Development Building Occupants:
As part of the ongoing METALLIC Project, construction activities are expanding into the area adjacent to the east loading dock. To support this work, a smaller construction dumpster will be relocated to the parking area near the northeast entrance of Metals Development (see attached image/map).
Reason for Closure
The parking space closure is necessary to allow demolition of the existing loading dock and construction of a new dock on the east side of the building as part of the METALLIC Project.
Impacted Areas
• Approximately two parking spaces near the northeast entrance will be unavailable beginning August 17.
• The closure will remain in place until this phase of construction is complete.
• At this time, the duration of the closure has not been finalized.
What to Expect
Beginning on August 17, occupants may notice construction equipment, contractor activity, and the relocation of a construction dumpster to the northeast parking area. The affected parking spaces will be clearly marked and unavailable for employee use.
This change is intended to keep construction operations safely separated from loading dock activities while work on the new dock is underway. Access to building entrances and normal building operations are expected to remain unchanged; however, occupants may experience occasional increases in construction-related noise and activity in the area.
As construction progresses, additional updates will be provided if the scope, duration, or impacts of the work change.
If you routinely use the northeast parking area, please be aware of this reduction in available parking spaces.

To all Metals Development employees:
As we move forward on the METALLIC project and roof opening, there is a need to close off different areas of Metals Development first and second floor during the lift.
Reason for closure:
During the closure we will be lifting the new transformer for the METALLIC project into the building.
Impacted Spaces & System(s):
First Floor: MD 160, MD 160A, the North Back dock, hallway from north dock and the occupants of MD 158.
Second Floor: MD 241, MD 244.
What to expect
During the week of Aug. 31, we will be working to cut open a hole in the MD roof above 244.
*Once that hole is cut, the access to MD 244 will be limited to construction team, and approved FES and ESH staff only.
* There will be no access to the MD roof for the week of the project except authorized personnel only.
On Sept. 2nd there will be large equipment traveling down Morrill Rd. N from the Ames Lab warehouse to Metals Development. This will take place between 6:30am and 8am. As we lift the heaviest pieces of equipment into place, we will shut down Lot 28 (North); including the area surrounding the parking lot, the north dock of MD and the hallway from that north door. MD 160 and MD 160A will also not have access until the equipment is in place. This has been a new development since our last notice.
Drawings are attached of the “no go” spaces within Metals Development.
We ask that during this time, please avoid the construction site. Should you need to be in the area, please speak with the Project Manager (Leigh Wiand) for assistance.

NOTES: Scheduled Roof Opening and Parking lot Closure - Metals Development 28A (North)
Subject: Parking Lot Closure Sept.2nd, 7AM to 4PM
To all Metals Development employees and users of lot 28A North:
As we move forward on the METALLIC project, there is a need to open the roof above MD 244 and bring in several large pieces of transformer equipment. During this time, please be aware that we will need to close the 28A parking lot on the north side of Metals Development on Wednesday, Sept 2nd.
Reason for closure:
During the closure we will be moving the new transformer in for the METALLIC project.
Impacted Spaces & System(s):
This will impact various spaces within MD and the parking lot.

What to expect
During the week of Aug. 31, we will be working to cut open a hole in the MD roof above 244. Here is a breakdown of the week:
Monday, Aug. 31st:
* Cut roof
* Demo concreate roof deck
Tuesday, Sept. 1st:
* Demo all remaining concrete
Wednesday, Sept. 2nd:
* Barricade off parking lot (7am)
* Block north dock entrance (please use alternate route)
* Move electrical equipment to the north parking lot (7am)
* Set crane for hoisting (8am)
Thursday, Sept. 3:
* Remove temp roof patch
* Set all remaining structural steel and decking
We ask that during this time, please avoid the construction site if possible. Should you need to be in the area, please speak with the Project Manager (Leigh Wiand). Safety has confirmed that there is not a need to evacuate the building during this hoist.

AFFECTED PARKING LOT # & LOCATION: Lot 96A and access drive
WHY: Construction activities.

NOTES: Lot 96A will be closed for construction activities on Monday, July 21. The lot will remain closed thru the duration of the project, October 2026. Alternate parking is available in Lot 96.
A temporary drive will be in place Tuesday morning, Tuesday, July 22 for daily deliveries.
