Ahoy Receives IRPE Commitment Award

Two awards were presented on September 29, 2004, at the noon luncheon for Bridges of Excellence Conference held at Scheman Building, Iowa State University.

One of the awards was presented to the former Dean of Engineering, Jim Melsa. The second award was presented to Chris Ahoy by the Iowa Quality Center for their Iowa Recognition Performance Excellence (IRPE) Program. Chris received the 2004 IRPE Examiner Commitment Award in appreciation for providing leadership for the Iowa recognition for performance excellence 2004 process and for having eight Baldrige examiners from Facilities Planning and Management, Iowa State University, which is the largest contingent of examiner from any industry in one organization.

Chris has been a State Baldrige examiner for past six years. Each year, he has encouraged one to two members of our staff to become examiners. This year FPM had the largest number of examiners participating in the examination process (8). Participating FPM examiners included Dave Ballard, Don Chrusciel, Bob Currie, Mike Hamilton, Kelly McCool, Mark Nelson, Clark Thompson, and Chris Ahoy. Our 2004 support exceeded any other organizations in the number of examiners that have been participating in this State Baldrige Program. FPM has provided support and commitment to the IRPE program since its inception at the State of Iowa level in 1999.

This is another feather in the cap for FPM and ISU. There were 260 attendees in this one-day quality conference.
