Visitor Parking Guide

Visitors to campus or the General Services Building are not exempt from parking regulations and must observe all parking rules and regulations when on the Iowa State University campus. Any vehicle violating Iowa State University rules will be ticketed and may be towed without prior notice. Please read the signs in the lots carefully for parking restrictions and time limits.

During normal business hours it is recommended that visitors to the General Services Building park in one of the following areas:


Visitor Permits

To obtain a visitor parking permit, visit Iowa State University Parking Division website and request one online. It will be emailed to you to print and put on the dash of your vehicle before arriving on campus.

Pay-by-the-Hour Lots

There are two main lots on campus in close proximity to the General Services Building with pay-by-the-hour machines:


Parking Meters

There are also meters in several of the lots on campus. Please read the signs and time limits on the meters carefully as there may be differences. Meters are located in the following lots in close proximity to the General Services Building:


Memorial Union Parking Ramp

Pay parking is also available at the Memorial Union Parking Ramp - approximately a five minute walk from the General Services Building. Entrances are from the south off of Lincoln Way and from the north off Union Drive.


Iowa State Center Parking Lots

Visitors to the General Services Building can also park at the designated parking lots A3, A4, B4, B5, and B6 at the Iowa State Center for free and take Cy-Ride's free #23 Orange Route into campus. There is an Orange Route bus stop on Wallace Road immediately in front of the General Services Building. (Cars cannot remain in the Iowa State Center lots beyond 10:00 pm.)
